Lichen Sclerosus UK Awareness January Competition
About Lichen Sclerosus UK Awareness
Lichen Sclerosus UK Awareness was created to help sufferers of Lichen Sclerosus, as well as those who believe they may have the condition, to understand the symptoms and diagnosis process. Their keys aims are to raise awareness of Lichen Sclerosus and break the taboo surrounding the condition.
What is Lichen Sclerosus?
Lichen Sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that most commonly affects the intimate areas – the tip of the penis for men, and the vulva and anus in women. Children can also be susceptible to it, though those most commonly diagnosed are pre-pubescent girls. The cause is unknown but up to 3% of the adult female population are affected by Lichen Sclerosus, most often in post-menopausal women, rendering it a relatively common diagnosis.
You can find out more information about Lichen Sclerosus including the symptoms, diagnosis, treatments, risks of Vulval Cancer, as well as awareness videos on the Lichen Sclerosus UK Awareness website or the ‘Lichen Sclerosus – All of Your Questions Answered’ blog post on the YES website.
