YES® for Healthcare Professionals

Supporting Healthcare Professionals

Healthcare professionals know most women at some point in their lives will experience vaginal dryness and discomfort.  Whether the causes are menopause, breastfeeding, stress, side-effects of medication or more serious conditions like vaginal atrophy, vaginismus or Lichen Sclerosis. Living with vaginal dryness can have an impact on physical and mental health.

YES® VM and WB are both registered medical devices and are available on the NHS drug tariff.

Our medical support team provides free of charge samples for clinics, allowing patients to try the products before receiving a prescription or purchasing directly. YES® intimate health products provide gentle and effective relief from symptoms of vaginal dryness. YES® VM & YES® WB are not made with hormones, glycerin, or parabens.

What is the difference between WB & VM?

YES® WB water-based vaginal lubricant

YES® WB water-based vaginal lubricant is a pH balanced moisturising water based lubricant for women with mild to moderate vaginal dryness for use during intercourse. The water is released quickly to help lubricate dry vaginal tissue to make sex more comfortable.

YES® VM vaginal moisturiser

YES® VM vaginal moisturiser is for women suffering from moderate to severe vaginal dryness or atrophy and should be used regularly over a long period of time. YES® VM is balanced for vaginal pH and osmolality and releases water to hydrate dry and atrophied tissue as and when it is needed. YES® VM provides moisture for up to 3 days. Cases of severe dryness will benefit from more frequent use (1 applicator or 5ml every 1-2 days).

Both these products can be used alongside vaginal oestrogen or on their own as an alternative for women for whom all oestrogen is contraindicated or who simply wish not to use any oestrogen. If patients are using Vagifem twice weekly, then YES® VM can be used on the other days as often as necessary.

Why choose YES® over other standard prescribable vaginal moisturisers?

YES® products represent a radical breakthrough in lubricant and moisturiser technology using water-holding bio-adhesive plant polymers instead of the traditional glycerine (used in Replens, Sylk and Regelle) which is known to be a mucosal irritant. YES® is naturally non-sticky and has been designed to be side effect free and non-irritating.

Women undergoing treatment for cancer

YES® natural intimate lubricants and moisturisers have become a valued addition to the survivorship programme, supporting sexual well-being in women who have had treatment for gynaecological and breast cancers.

When radiotherapy, chemotherapy or surgery have affected sexual function and have caused the distress and discomfort of vaginal dryness, it is vital that the purest possible non-hormonal solution is offered.

Importance of pH and Osmolality

In 2012 the WHO released an advisory paper on the safety of lubricants for use with condoms and revealed that hyperosmotic lubricants can damage epithelial cells. In 2015 David Edwards and Nick Panay published a review article in Climacteric, entitled Treating Vulvovaginal Atrophy/Genitourinary symptoms of menopause: How important is vaginal lubricant and moisturiser composition? (ref)

In the conclusion to the article, the authors advised that women choose a product that is optimally balanced in terms of both osmolality and pH and is physiologically most similar to natural vaginal secretions.

YES® VM vaginal moisturiser and YES® WB water-based vaginal lubricant are both within the recommended range for pH and osmolality whereas many standard vaginal moisturiser and lubricants are often formulated with ingredients that render them hyperosmotic.

“In my capacity as a Consultant Gynecologist with a special interest in premature menopause, I see many women suffering from menopausal vaginal atrophy, whose symptoms can be significantly eased through the use of an appropriate vaginal moisturiser/lubricant. Based on my professional experience of such products, and the feedback from my patients I can say without hesitation that the YES® range proves to be one of the most successful in combating the discomfort of dryness. Dr Elizabeth Venner – BSc Hons, MBBS, MRCP (UK)

“I work as a Vulval Dermatologist and women with genital skin conditions often find sex, and the friction of sex, can make their skin conditions worse. As a consequence of this I always recommend using a lubricant, and I have found that those women who have used YES report that it is by far the best lube they have tried, both in terms of lubrication and its lack of irritancy.”
