YES shoots with The Eve Appeal for ‘Go Red September’
Who are The Eve Appeal?
You may have heard of The Eve Appeal, one of the biggest UK national charities that focuses on raising awareness and funding research into the five gynaecological cancers – womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal.
Developing and introducing innovative methods of risk prediction, early detection and screening for these women-only cancers, The Eve Appeal has helped save women’s lives on an admirably large scale. Having worked closely alongside their core research team, the Department of Women’s Cancer at University College London, the charity has a formidable presence in 31 institutions across 15 countries. Going above and beyond raising awareness, The Eve Appeal plays a fundamental part in providing seed and project funding.
Throughout September the YES YES Company is working alongside The Eve Appeal with the core objective of encouraging open discussion regarding sexual health. Recently we headed to The Allbright and enjoyed a magical day of filming with some fantastic women from the field of Women’s Health to create a ‘Go Red’ video to help spread the message about what The Eve Appeal do and how we work with them here at YES.
Co-CEO Susi Lennox and YES Medical Liaison, Lavinia Winch joined Emma Cannon, Trudy Hannington, Karen Hobbs, Lynn Buckley and Diane Danzebrink on the day, filmed by Amit and Naroop.
What is ‘Go Red’?
To help raise awareness of the five gynaecological cancers, this September The Eve Appeal are encouraging everyone to simply choose a day of the month to wear red. Whether it be sliding on a pair of rouge socks or donning a full-size strawberry costume; all red counts. The objective is to break the taboo surrounding female sexual health, to educate men and women alike of the five gynae cancers and to increase funding for The Eve Appeal’s ground-breaking research. Sexual health should be openly discussed without embarrassment, so let’s put an end to the stigma around it.
Where does YES fit in?
Undergoing treatment for cancer can result in many unwanted changes to the body. YES natural intimate lubricants and moisturisers have become a valued addition to the survivorship programme, supporting well-being in women who have had treatment for cancer.
When recovering from any gynae cancer, you may experience one of the unwelcome side-effects – vaginal dryness or vaginal atrophy. These common symptoms can derive from surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy (due to changes in the vaginal mucosa), and can lead to itching, irritation and painful intercourse. Whilst HRT is a common treatment for such symptoms, it is not a viable option for all cancer survivors.
Every YES product is 100% natural and free from hormones, glycerine, parabens and any other unwanted chemicals.
Throughout September we will be helping to fundraise for The Eve Appeal and encourage anyone who can to support this very worthy cause to join us. You can donate now on the link at the top of the YES homepage.
